Laser Dentistry
Dental Lasers are excellent tools in dentistry for more advanced treatments. Due to their decontaminating and bactericidal effects, they have come to be used for gum therapy, and cosmetic treatments of the gums and teeth, including decontamination around teeth and dental implants. For dental phobics, they can successfully be used to replace a drill for simple restorative procedures.

Dr.Raj Wadhwani, an early adopter of this technology uses lasers for the following procedures :
- treatment of gum infections
- cosmetic adjustment of gums, to include a ‘smile-lift’ procedure
- use of a laser instead of a scalpel with dental implants
- use of a laser rather than a drill when treating cavities
Antwerp Dental Group are collaborating with various Universities and are researching the applications of lasers in dentistry. Dr.Raj Wadhwani was amongst some of the early adopters of this technology in England for the last 18 years and now uses this technology routinely for many applications in dentistry. Dr.Wadhwani has undertaken research at the University of Genoa, Italy under the stewardship of Professor Steven Parker to evaluate the efficacy of lasers to control dental implant infections. He also runs the Cambridge Dental Laser Study Club.
